Carruthers sewer work noise exemption - February 2-6

Alert for residents on Carruthers between Wellington West and approximately Ladouceur.

Residents on Carruthers between Wellington West and roughly Ladouceur may hear some low construction noise past 10 pm as a result of sewer work between February 2 and 6.

As part of its regular maintenance, the City is lining the sewers. The process is to snake a sock-like lining through the pipe, then blow it up with air. This lining molds to the inside of the pipe, and is dried to harden.

Corner store zoning

Jeff is seeking input on a few changes to small-scale commercial zoning rules - which are meant to "grandfather" existing stores in residential neighbourhoods such as corner stores, laundromats and cafes.

For over a year, now, the City has been studying a potential new zoning by-law amendment that would grandfather existing stores in residential neighbourhoods such as corner stores, laundromats and cafes. The study has also identified sites that could be re-zoned to allow such uses where they don't currently exist.

Planners are now seeking a final round of comment due February 6, in time to finalize the rules and make a decision at Planning Committee in mid-April.

Here's the latest from the crews on plowing progress, which will continue through the night:

The storm clean up is going very well.  All of our priority roads are in good shape, we have completed most of our residential beats and are very close to completing the rest of them. We have gone through all sidewalk beats at least once and will be redoing them all starting at 7 pm tonight.
