Ottawa Police Services Open House January 25

You are here

As many of you know, the Ottawa Police Services has changed its service delivery model with the changes coming into effect today, Jan. 23. The OPS is holding open houses across the city to explain these changes, including one this Wednesday, January 25 in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

The new model includes a Community Safety Services (CSS) section consisting of Community Police Officers, School Resource Officers, Youth Services, Mental Health and Crime Prevention. While the number of Community Police Officers drops to 10 under this new model, the OPS hopes it will help the aforementioned teams work together to keep our communities safer.

In Kitchissippi Ward, Constable Dawn Neilly has seen her territory expand all the way to Churchill and also south into River Ward. Heading west past Churchill, we continue to be served by Constable Jeffery Kostuch.

OPS will be going into greater detail on all the changes, and what they'll mean for you, Wednesday night at City Hall. The open house starts at 7 p.m.
