Fort McMurray Fundraising Event

You are here

Following the tragic events that took place in Fort McMurray, Alberta, the City of Ottawa is rallying together to help support the tens of thousands of residents who have been displaced by the devastating wildfires.

Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson and Ottawa Senators defenceman Chris Phillips have teamed-up to organize a fundraising event to help support residents of Fort McMurray through these extraordinarily challenging times. The fundraiser, #Ottawa4FortMac will be held on Wednesday, June 8, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Aberdeen Pavilion at Lansdowne Park.

Proceeds from the event will go towards helping to support the residents of Fort McMurray as they rebuild their lives and their community.

This western-themed event will feature live music by Ottawa-born country sensation Kira Isabella, Ottawa country group River Town Saints, country brother duo The Abrams, as well as Jordan McIntosh and Meghan Patrick.

There will also be fun western-themed activities, with samplings from Ottawa’s craft breweries and a pizza dinner catered by local pizzerias.

Tickets for the event cost $80 and are available for purchase online at, or by cash payment at Big Rig Brewery locations and in the Mayor’s office at City Hall. Tickets purchased online are eligible for a $50 income tax receipt.

I encourage you to join your city as we support the Canadian Red Cross’s emergency appeal and the United Way’s relief efforts directed towards helping the residents of Fort McMurray.

You can help by purchasing a ticket to Ottawa4FortMac, volunteering at the event, sharing the event with your networks and on social media, or by making a donation to the Red Cross or United for Fort McMurray.
