Hickory pedestrian bridge update

You are here

My colleague Catherine McKenney and I got an update from staff on the Hickory Street pedestrian bridge yesterday. Several residents have been asking - here's the scoop:

The Hickory Pedestrian Bridge construction is progressing well and is following original construction schedule.

The next milestone at the end of June 2015 is the delivery of all bridge and deck elements to the construction site.

During the first two weeks of July, the Contractor will assemble all the bridge elements and prepare the bridge for lifting and placing on the already constructed foundations.

If everything goes as planned, in the middle of July 2015, the Contractor will install the bridge into its final position at night when the O-Train is not operating as a safety precaution.

After the bridge has been installed into position, the Contractor will make electrical connections and finish the landscaping work.

All construction activities are expected to be completed by the end of August 2015.

We will be keeping you up to date on the developments of the work and schedule.
