For months the buzz has been building, and we're a few short days away from the Winston Square urban park grand opening! The whole city is invited to the party on June 6.
Winston Square is a new urban space in the heart of Westboro designed for people to gather with neighbours and friends over coffee, lunch or simply conversation. The space combines a sleek modern design with an architectural theme that completes the street, and mimics the Winston Avenue homes roof lines. This spring, the living walls will start to come to life as plantings are ongoing, and the addition of a custom-designed chandelier will add a warm, welcoming glow, celebrating the flora and animials indigenous to the area.
Located between the Dairy Queen and Royal Canadian Legion on Richmond Road, Winston Square is your space. It will be the focus point for businesses, residents and visitors to gather, celebrate and refresh. It will be a new, first-of-its-kind venue in our community for performance, programming and pop-ups, all summer long!
Join me, Mayor Jim Watson, the Westboro Village Business Improvement Area, and special guests to officially open the space. There will be musical performances, activities and more for much of the day, and the official ribbon-cutting happens at 2:00. See you there!
