Urban Forest Management Plan update

You are here

City staff have been working for a little more than a year now on the Urban Forest Management Plan with the goal of looking for ways to protect, maintain, and enhance the urban forest -- all trees and their habitat within the urban area boundary, both public and private.

While the city has many policies in place to regulate our trees, this plan will provide a long-term vision we've never had before.

After the first round of public consultations in November of last year, staff went to work putting together a draft plan, which went live on the the city's website earlier this month.

Residents are encouraged to read the draft and then take part in a Phase 2 Consultation Survey. The survey must be filled in by Nov. 30.

There will be three more public consultations coming up, all at City Hall: Monday, Nov. 21 from 1pm to 4pm, Monday, November 21 from 6pm to 9pm, and Tuesday, November 22 from 6pm to 9pm. Registration is available here.
