Tomorrow! Ottawa's music scenes of the 60s, 70s and 80s

You are here

As we win more and more engagement with the City for music-industry-boosting initiatives, I'm thrilled that I'm able to offer what promises to be an amazing evening of storytelling with some of Ottawa's biggest personalities. On February 3, I'm hosting an evening of conversation with Eugene Haslam, Dick Cooper, Sandy Sharkey, Harvey Glatt and Gary Comeau, with moderator Ken Rockburn. It'll be an official Megaphono event, and I'm grateful for the help in getting the word out offered by the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition.

This event came together quickly! We'll take a look back at Ottawa's music scenes in the 60s, 70s and 80s, looking at its artists, the venues and the promoters. I expect to stories that will make us laugh, cry, and inspire us - and always with an ear to what today's music professionals can learn from what went right in past.

The event'll take place at the Carleton Tavern, starting at 8 pm. There's a Facebook event page at https://www.facebook.com/events/973327546049611/.

Update: I'm thankful to the League of Rock Ottawa who have stepped up with two $1000 memberships for its program. The League of Rock is a pick-up league of adults who can play an instrument or sing, with an opportunity to learn from professional coaches. In addition to these two draw prize memberships, there are still a few spots left for its Winter Join-a-Band session! Thanks to League of Rock for the prizes - rock on!
