You are here

We received the update from the snow crews below with respect to snow ploughing on roads and sidewalks. Take care walking, cycling or driving out there! Want more info on snow maintenance? Visit http://ottawa.ca/en/residents/transportation-and-parking/road-and-sidewalk-maintenance/snow-removal-and-disposal.

Presently we are at -17 Celsius with the wind chill at -29 Celsius. We are experiencing periods of light snow and local blowing snow with Environment Canada predicting 2- 4cm accumulation today, the winds from the North East at 30km/h and gusting to 50 km/h, there will be local drifting and visibility issues for motorist.

Night shift staff were called in Saturday night to plow and salt the priority road and sidewalk network as the light snow covered the roads, staff maintained roads overnight as the light snow continued to cover the network through this morning. Day shift operators in for 7am to plow salt the priority roads and sidewalks.

Based on yesterday’s accumulation and today’s persistent snow accumulation we will deploy a residential plow run at 4am.

Thanks
