Reid Park update

We have a small update on the Reid Park re-development. Our hope was that this year we’d see the beginning of that with the demolition of the old farm house. I’ve received word, though, that the procurement for that work hasn’t worked out as planned. It was tendered separately from the larger project to be completed this year. Unfortunately only a single bid came back. That bid was for much more that the City’s consultants estimate the work should cost, so it has been rejected.

Over the winter, that work will be bundled in with a much larger tender to do the park project, and staff are confident we’ll get some reasonable bids. I have some cushion for costs that might be higher than anticipated, but would have been very uncomfortable throwing money away.

I have every confidence that this project is still on track to be completed in just about one year, and will keep residents apprised of progress.
