Last March, as part of the City's mid-term governance review, the City had proposed creating a new Planning Advisory Committee that would have been mostly made up of senior City staff and councillors. The Committee is a requirement of new legislation passed by the Province, and I and others were concerned that a top-heavy committee made up of more City people than residents wouldn't fulfill the spirit of Bill 73. Working very closely with Councillor Nussbaum, I and Councillor Harder put foward a motion to defer the creation of that body to take a second look at its composition.
As I noted in one of my newsletters, that has since moved forward with a much more encouraging mix of residents and representatives of different stakeholders, a change we passed late last year.
Membership to that Committee is now open! Take a look at the following for more information on how you can apply.
