Orrin-Reid-MacFarlane update

I would like to provide an update on the MacFarlane Avenue, Orrin Avenue, and Reid Avenue reconstruction project. At the Public Information Session held on March 3, 2015, it was indicated that construction was planned to start and finish in 2015. City staff has reviewed the current status of the project with the Consulting Engineer and have decided that the best course of action is to postpone the start of construction to 2016. Due to some unforeseen issues, the timing of the project was extended. If the current schedule were to continue, this extension would result in portions of the construction work to occur in 2015 with the remainder of the construction to be pushed into the 2016 construction season.  It was decided that the best course of action is to postpone the start of work until Spring 2016 which will allow the project to be completed within one construction season, and reduce the disruption to residents.
 
Another update on this project’s schedule will be provided in early 2016 which will confirm the start date of construction.
