Hintonburg Happening 2016 ART GRANTS

The core of Hintonburg Happening is our proud tradition of giving back to the community through funding art initiatives in the neighbourhood. We will continue this support this fall when we award two separate grants from funds raised from the 2016 festival.

The first grant, valued at $3000, will be for a permanent art installation in the neighbourhood. (For example, the winners of last year's grant, Daniel Martelock and Craig O'Brien, built Hintonbirdhouses that can be seen on businesses around the hood.)

We are pleased to offer a new $1,000 grant for something temporary to be held / displayed / performed during the 2017 festival. The creative possibilities are quite broad for this second grant, and could include anything from an art installation to live art to musical or theatrical performance during the festival. Proposals could include anything from an art installation to live art to a musical or theatrical performance during the festival. We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Proposals must be submitted by midnight on October 1, 2016. Please include: a photograph or a clear outline of the idea; the artist's/artists' full name(s); email address; phone number; brief bio of artist(s) and proof of permission from the property owner for the location of the installation or event (if applicable). The winners will be chosen by a jury of local residents, artists and volunteers with Hintonburg Happening and will be revealed October 27, 2016 at the Hintonburg Happening Silent Auction. You don't have to be a resident to submit a proposal so please email submissions to vb246@hotmail.com. Special thanks to all of our sponsors and volunteer talent who are helping to MAKE IT HAPPEN! Especially our 2016 main sponsor Tamarack Wellington for all of their support.
