BikeOttawa report provides case studies and recommendations

Over the past year or so, Bike Ottawa has been working with funding that I provided to map our city from a cycling perspective, understand how people are moving around and think about what the next stages of bike infrastructure might look like. The most visible result of that effort has been their new interactive maps, released to wide acclaim.

This week, Bike Ottawa provided to me their wrap-up report that not only delves into the vision and methodology for these maps in greater detail, but also provides several case studies that demonstrate how the data can be used to consider: cycling to a transit station, cycling to school, and cycling to leisure destinations.

In the next term of Council, we'll be refreshing several of our master plans coincident with the larger exercise of refreshing the Official Plan. I believe the tools and methodologies that Bike Ottawa has created will be invaluable to that effort.
