Filing Traffic Reports Online: Public meeting August 15

Our office and the Ottawa Police Service invite you to attend a meeting August 15, 7pm at the Van Lang Fieldhouse to discuss how to report traffic issues to the police.

Traffic continue to be a main concern for residents of Kitchissippi Ward. The more we intensify, the more cars we seem to find on our streets. Our office gets multiple emails a day about cars that drive too fast, cruise through stop signs, or don’t follow various signage restrictions (local traffic, one-way, no right turns, etc).

417 ramp closure / Merivale road closure update

We have two updates on the 417 widening work and some traffic impacts.

Scheduled to begin on August 7, the Carling Avenue 417 Westbound on-ramp will be closed for a minimum of nine weeks. Signage will be present advising motorists of the ramp closure and providing alternate access points to the highway westbound. If any changes to this scheduled closure arise, we will notify residents as soon as possible. The MTO does not anticipate any further long ramp closures this year.

Laroche Park Open House! July 25, 7:00-8:30pm

Laroche Park: Community Consultation for Park and Community Building Redevelopment

Last year, we consulted with Kitchissippi Ward on how to spend our Cash-in-Lieu funds. The top priority for the Ward is a new field house for Laroche Park. Over the past several months, we have been pressing staff to begin getting this project underway in earnest, as our CIL funds are building up. In addition to a new field house, there will also be the long-awaited Sens Rink.

Mailes Drive design plans are here

Back in May, the City of Ottawa held a Public Information Session about an upcoming reconstruction project on Mailes Avenue.

Tendering of the contract for the Mailes Avenue watermain, sewer, road and sidewalk work will begin in the spring of next year with construction set to start in early summer.

The work will take place on Mailes Avenue between Patricia Avenue and Oakdale Avenue, Island Park Drive between Richmond Road and Mailes Avenue, and Lane 81-V between Mailes Avenue and Rockhurst Road.
