Last night, councillors received the memo and associated documents attached to this post below. The documents describe the technical scoring results for the three bidders vying to design and build the Trillium Line extension. I've posted these here for the sake of easy public access, and will be reviewing them in full in the coming days.

Our office is hosting a pre-application community meeting on a proposed development at 2046/2050 Scott Street, which will require a Zoning By-Law Amendment application to accomplish. The project is proposed to be a 28-storey residential tower with 208 units and commercial at grade. In addition, they are proposing to provide 50% of the required resident parking, 100% of the required vistor parking and 100% of the required bicycle parking spaces. The exact numbers will be available once a formal application has been submitted.

As many of you are aware, construction has begun at 1445-1451 Wellington St West, the site of the Mizrahi project. We hosted a pre-construction meeting earlier this Fall, but unfortunately at that time some details were still in the process of being determined between Mizrahi and the City. In the weeks that have followed, our office has coordinated meetings between Mizrahi, the City, and the community association and neighbours in order to finalize those details. We are now in a solid position to present the information as a whole.

On Tuesday, November 5, Councillors Leiper, McKenney, King, Fleury, and Menard welcomed a record number of participants for the annual BudgetSpeak event. We rely on this event to get valuable feedback from residents of the urban wards about what their budget priorities are, so the councillors can best advocate on their behalf during the budget process.

As the Councillors for Kitchissippi and Somerset wards we represent the residents who are residing in tents behind Bayview Station.

We continue to be closely involved in securing affordable housing options for those residents who lost their housing to a fire in April and have asked City housing staff to work directly with those residents to get an understanding of their needs.

A Site Plan Control application to construct a 28-storey high-rise apartment building with 240 dwelling units and 220 vehicular parking spaces has been submitted to the City of Ottawa by Brigil, who are currently in the process of building their project on the adjacent site at 121 Parkdale Ave.

In the wake of a tent fire last week the NCC and Emergency services have made the decision to remove the tent city behind Bayview Station. Emergency and Protective Services (which oversees fire and paramedic services) and Ottawa Police consider that the site poses a threat both to residents there as well as to emergency responders. While we do not agree with the removal, it is no longer in our power to stop it. This is a tragedy on many levels.

Thanks to all who attended the meeting on Dec. 19 at the Hintonburg Community Centre where Pat Scrimgeour, Director of Transit Customer Systems and Planning for OC Transpo, presented the plans to make alterations to the corner of Parkdale and Scott. These changes will allow buses to make the right hand turn from Scott onto Parkdale and will mean buses will be removed from Spencer Street. Scrimgeour told residents temporary measures will be implemented as soon as possible to make this happen and those temporary measures will be made permanent during the upcoming construction season.
