Laroche Park second round consultation

On October 25, residents had a chance to see how plans for the park have evolved since the first consultation round this summer. I'm very pleased at the degree to which planners have taken that first feedback into account as we prepare to build a new fieldhouse onsite, implement a Sens rink, replace the play equipment and do associated soil remediation. Thanks to everyone who attended - it was a great turnout and more than one person remarked that we're seeing a good cross-section of resident demographics becoming engaged. That's excellent.


Byron / Roosevelt / Ravenhill Zoning By-Law Amendment Application - Open House, November 7, 2018

A Zoning By-Law Amendment Application has been received by the City of Ottawa to re-zone the below twelve properties  in Westboro from Residential Third Density, Subzone R (R3R) to Residential Fourth Density, Subzone G (R4G) with site-speicifc exceptions to permit low-rise apartment dwellings with up to four dwelling units, and reduced lot width area, setbacks and amenity space requirements. The properties are:

Cathodic Protection of watermains happening in the ward

You may soon notice some construction work on Carling Ave from Melrose to Merivale, and on Sherbourne Road from Knightsbridge to Byron. The City recently sent this construction notice to our office. A hard copy of the notice will also be delivered to local residents and businesses that may be impacted by the works.

472 Byron Place/433, 435, 439 Churchill Ave potential development update

A Zoning By-Law Amendment and Site Plan Control application is being proposed for a potential development at Churchill Ave and Byron Place. The proposed development would be a mixed-use, six-storey building with commercial at grade on the Churchill facing side. The remainder of the building will be residential, and a two-level underground parking garage with access off Highcroft is proposed as part of this development.

Byron Linear Park MUP improvements coming

You may have noticed, or you soon will notice, construction in the Byron Linear Park between Golden Avenue and Redwood Avenue. The city recently sent this to homes in the immediate area.

Laroche Park: Second Community Consultation for Park and Community Building Redevelopment

Last year, we consulted with Kitchissippi Ward on how to spend our Cash-in-Lieu funds. The top priority for the Ward is a new field house for Laroche Park. Over the past several months, we have been pressing staff to begin getting this project underway in earnest, as our CIL funds are building up. In addition to a new field house, there will also be the long-awaited Sens Rink.



99-103 Pinhey - Site Plan Control Application + Open House

A Site Plan Control application has been submitted to the City of Ottawa for a development at 99-103 Pinhey Street, on the southeast corner of Armstrong Street and Pinhey Street. The proposed development would be a 24-unit, four-storey apartment building with underground parking. Seven parking spaces and 12 bike parking spaces are being proposed as part of this development. 


Feedback survey for age-friendly improvements to McCormick Park

The City of Ottawa wants to hear your feedback about the age-friendly improvements that were recently completed at McCormick Park.


As a follow up to the Older Adult Plan initiative 1.7: Make age-friendly improvements and designate one existing City park per year as “age-friendly”, city staff have prepared a quick survey to gather feedback about the age-friendly improvements that were made to McCormick Park, located at 294 Carruthers Ave. The survey will remain open until October 15th 2018.



174 Forward Ave Development - Revised Plans

You may recall in February, we held an Open House to discuss a proposed development at 174 Forward Ave. At the time, the applicant initially proposed an eight-storey residential building containing 24 units and six parking spaces.  Concerns were raised by the local residents and the Mechanicsville Community Association (MCA) with regard to the proposed height, locations of the parking garage and the waste collection room, and the reduced corner side yard.
