The City of Ottawa has received a Site Plan Control Application for 87 Melrose Avenue. The subject site is located on the east side of Melrose Avenue between Gladstone Avenue and Highway 417. The subject site has a 10.6 metre frontage on Melrose Avenue and a total lot area of approximately 557.6 square metres. There is an existing three-unit dwelling on the site.

Delayed with the pandemic, the City has now resumed mailouts to residents who could benefit from the Lead Pipe Replacement Program.

The City is concentrating on areas with the highest density of homes constructed before 1955. As such 3800 letters will be sent to Kitchissippi residents in two batches, one this Friday, August 13 and the other next Friday, August 20.

You may qualify for a $1,000 rebate to get this work completed. We're attaching the letter being sent to residents as well as an information pamphlet below.

On Tuesday, July 27, our office in conjunction with the LRT Stage 2 Stakeholder Relations Team hosted a Zoom webinar on the Scott Street Bus Detour. With construction of this project now underway, the webinar gave residents an opportunity to learn what to expect over the coming months as well as how the detour will work once the buses are out of the trench for rail construction.

The City of Ottawa has received a Zoning By-law Amendment and Site Plan Control application to construct a 9-storey mixed use building with ground floor commercial spaces, residential dwellings in the upper storeys and two levels of underground parking.

The subject site is located at 797 Richmond Road and currently consists of asphalt surface parking and a single one-storey building which contains the owner’s existing medical facility office (dental clinic).

CONSTRUCTION GROUND-BREAKING EVENT

The City of Ottawa has received a Site Plan Application for 411, 415 Ravenhill Ave. The subject sites are located at 411-415 Ravenhill Avenue, west of the Ravenhill Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue intersection. The combined site area is approximately 614 metres squared, with 20.13 metres of frontage on Ravenhill Avenue. The sites are currently occupied by two triplexes. The properties are located within a residential neighbourhood with a mix of low- and mid-rise dwellings. North of the site is Richmond Road, a traditional mainstreet, that features mid-rise mixed-use buildings.

Yesterday evening, there was a Twitter discussion when CBC journalist Joanne Chianello noted that she had requested a copy of the Province's feedback to the draft Official Plan. City officials had denied her access to that document, which is a public document. I and other councillors were not aware that the Province had provided that feedback, and I also requested a copy of the document.

On April 29, the McKellar Park Community Association, in partnership with our office, hosted a webinar about LRT activity ongoing and what to expect in the coming months. 

With more than 80 questions from residents, it was impossible to answer them all that night, so a Q&A document was promised.

Construction began this week on the Scott Street bus detour, part of the ongoing Stage 2 LRT project. Making these changes along Scott Street will allow OC Transpo to operate its buses while crews are constructing the LRT in the Transitway trench.

To that end, our office is holding a public webinar on July 27at 7pm so you can learn what to expect during the construction of the detour and beyond.
