This week I was sent the long-awaited replacement landscaping plan for our part of the western LRT extension. It’s a big document, and I’ve posted it here for viewing. In general, the NCC has insisted on a 3:1 replacement of the trees that have been lost to construction. It’s important to note that that’s an average across the project area, so it’s possible that some discrete areas may not adhere to that ratio. I’m generally pleased to see very substantial replanting in the vicinity of Kìchì Sìbì station, although I do have some questions about the areas along the guideway to the east of the station: the trees lost in front of the Taiga building were substantial and I’m keen to be reassured those will be replaced once the temporary transitway is removed. I believe that the MUP restoration east of the station may be a separate project, but will seek clarification.
I’ll note that I’ve got the impression this is more detail than we’ve seen before on some other aspects of the project such as pathways, pedestrian/cycling crossings and the like. It’s well worth a look.
