UPDATE: Presentation from Public Meeting - OC Transpo buses on Spencer Street - December 19, 2019

Thanks to all who attended the meeting on Dec. 19 at the Hintonburg Community Centre where Pat Scrimgeour, Director of Transit Customer Systems and Planning for OC Transpo, presented the plans to make alterations to the corner of Parkdale and Scott. These changes will allow buses to make the right hand turn from Scott onto Parkdale and will mean buses will be removed from Spencer Street. Scrimgeour told residents temporary measures will be implemented as soon as possible to make this happen and those temporary measures will be made permanent during the upcoming construction season. As part of the LRT launch, OC Transpo rerouted the 14 so it would connect directly to Tunney's Pasture Station. This resulted in a route 53 to take care of the Parkdale south to Carlington route the 14 used to run. On its return north, the 53 would also connect directly to Tunney's Pasture. OC Transpo determined that coming back from Tunney's Pasture, the right hand turn onto Parkdale was impossible due to the turning radius. Therefore the routes went south down Holland, turning left on Spencer and eventually turning right to return to Parkdale.

This change has caused a lot of problems on Spencer Street and we've heard them loud and clear. As such we have pushed OC Transpo to come up with solutions. They are actively working on four solutions that would see the buses leave Spencer Street.

At this meeting OC Transpo will present the options they are considering. If they have determined their preferred option by then, they will also explain how they have come to that decision.
