Reshaping Reid Park - July 18 and July 22 brainstorming sessions

You are here

The redevelopment of Reid Park has been in the making since 2013. This beautiful green space means so much to so many in the area and a prior consultation process determined ways that city funds for park improvements could be used to make it even more useful for the surrounding community.

The idea to fund a new field house in the place of the former Reid Farmhouse along with a list of creative infrastructure improvements and new park features spelled out a successful public consultation. However, even the best laid plans can become significantly complicated by new information. With the recent realization of the higher than expected costs of the planned field house, the plan has been brought back to the drawing board to ensure that the response to this new information is well thought out and meets the current needs of our ever changing community. Within this re-thinking, Councillor Leiper has pledged to collaborate with people who use and live near the park in determining next steps.

Come join in the process with an initial brainstorming session on:
July 18th 10:00am-12:00pm in the Tom Brown Arena, or
July 22nd 7:00pm-9:00pm at the Hintonburg Community Centre -Wellington Room

No decisions will be made at this meeting. It is rather an introduction of ideas and perspectives on what the park means to you and how you want to see it improved. Proposal planning and development meetings will take place in early October.

All those who visit, play-in, and live around Reid Park are invited to attend.  The focus will be on a conversation on what the park means to you and will include activities to further draw out a common vision of what projects can be proposed in the October meeting.
