MUP changes

UPDATE: I've posted a video to highlight the newly-opened multi-use path that runs next to Tom Brown, and the January 31 construction closure.

On January 31, a portion of the MUP connecting the newly-opened northern MUP to Bayview station will be closed as Rideau Transit Group demolishes, then re-builds, the structure to handle the future LRT.

I apologize for the late notice on this. The design-build process results in sometimes last-minute communications, and I can only re-iterate that we're seeking as much notice on these types of announcements as possible.

I've attached a PDF that shows the closure in detail (click it below). When the northern (MUP #2) connection closes, the connection from the path under the Transitway bridge to the station will be closed. Either this weekend or early next week, the southern path connection to Bayview station, nestled between Tom Brown Arena and the Albert street bridge, will open.

If you're using the MUP that runs along the Transitway west of Bayview, you will need to cross Scott and Bayview and use the Tom Brown path, then re-connect under the Albert Street bridge with the paths that run on the north side at Bayview station. If you're eastbound on Scott and want to turn north to the River, that will still be possible. However, if you're westbound, you'll need to detour around the construction by using Bayview, coming back to MUP #2 to continue your trip.

It's tough, I know, to figure out the new routes from these plans alone. I asked the City earlier this week at our regular meeting of the Scott/Albert detour working group for animations and visuals, but will work on some of my own this weekend. I have seen some resident correspondence that indicates RTG is open to improved signage where it can better communicate the new route.

I'll have further information as it becomes available.
