JUNO micro-grant shows coming to Kitchissippi

You are here

As part of the buildup to the JUNO Awards, which will be held at the Canadian Tire Centre on April 2, the JUNO Awards Host Committee and the Ottawa 2017 Bureau initiated a one-time funding program aimed at putting on unique musical experiences in all 23 wards leading  up to the awards ceremony.

Kitchissippi Ward will see three shows as part of the JUNO micro-grant program.

On March 4, Ottawa Showbox presents Sight and Sound, an audiovisual experience featuring the music of Amos the Transparent and Trails with visuals from Les666. The show is at The Record Centre, 1099 Wellington Street West, at 8pm. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door.

Call to Prayer is an immersive, sonic installation drawing on the traditions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Beginning as separate threads, the voices of three local vocalists gradually become entwined, ultimately forming a tonal fabric that finds harmony in difference. This performance is coming to the Innovation Centre at Bayview Yards on March 11 and 12 from 11:30am to 3:30pm.

And finally, the IMOOORKESTRA will be at the House of Common, 11b Fairmont Avenue on March 12 at 7pm. The IMOOORKESTRA (or IMOO((O)) brings together some of Ottawa’s finest improvising musicians who have been an integral part of and have participated in IMOO’s concert series. This version of the IMOO((O)) will be under the leadership of IMOO organizers, Linsey Wellman and David Jackson.

The microgrant shows have been happening across the city for about a month now. For details on shows in other words, check out this link:
