Councillor Jeff Leiper, Kitchissippi Ward 15, is currently seeking a new staff member to join his office, beginning in late July or early August. This is a full-time position; Monday to Friday, seven hours a day, totaling thirty-five hours a week. Starting salary is $58,000. This position will be remote until such time as we are able to return to the office, which is located at City Hall (110 Laurier Avenue West).  

The ideal fit for this position is a creative problem solver who can coordinate multiple stakeholders and thrives in a team environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and monitoring key files and policy processes, but no prior knowledge or experience is necessary to apply or thrive in the role. Leadership skills, the ability to work independently and strong organizational skills are an asset. An interest in or some experience doing community engagement work is a positive. Bilingualism is also an asset but is not mandatory.  This position requires occasional weekday evening and weekend work.

Duties include the management of key files for Kitchissippi ward across a variety of areas including planning, transportation, environmental services or others. 

·       Management of key files for Kitchissippi Ward including organizing and participating in community consultations, monitoring committee developments, and coordinating and liaising with the City.

·       Leading community engagement and consultation sessions.

·       Assist residents and relevant stakeholders seeking assistance from the Councillor's office

·       Working closely with Kitchissippi Ward’s community associations and Business Improvement Areas

·       Attend and provide support at open office hours as required  

·       General casework, responding to questions from residents and connecting them with the appropriate services 

·       Other duties as needed   

Ideal candidate will have:   

·       Ability to multi-task and address competing priorities  

·       Extensive experience working in customer-facing positions  

·       Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to resolve issues 

·       A strong desire to help others and support community growth
