Development Update & feedback request: 190 Richmond Road - change of use

We know that many of you have been following the progress of the proposed development at 190 Richmond Rd, on the Loblaws property. We've hosted two open houses on the development, and have received significant feedback. Our office also engaged Milieu to produce a consultation report, which we've attached here (towards the bottom) as well. Choice Properties, the owner of the property, and Fotenn recently reached out to our office with an update on the proposed development. 

Originally, the proposed development was to be a retirement home for seniors. Now, they are proposing rental apartments after they have determined the market isn’t available for a dedicated seniors facility. They have let us know that the intent may still be to market the building to seniors. 

Given the community's concern about potential changes of use subsequent to the approval of the Zoning By-Law Amendment & Site Plan Control, all parties involved wanted to bring the matter to the attention of our residents to receive feedback. 

We are requesting that you send your feedback via e-mail or phone to our office at jeff.leiper@ottawa.ca / 613-580-2485. Your feedback will be shared with the development team and lead planner on the file as well – we will reach out to secure your permission and can pass along your feedback anonymously. We are leaving two weeks to take in your feedback, so please make sure we’ve received your input by Tuesday, January 24.
