Bore holes. Bore HOLES! BORE HOLES!

You are here

As the City gears up to build LRT Phase 2, it needs to test the geology along the route. To do so, it will dig as many as 8500 bore holes along the route. In a first phase between November and December, it will dig 25 hoes with 16 monitoring wells using two drill rigs and crews. The work is noisy, and depending on the conditions they may need to hydrovac. The work will be done during the day to mitigate some of the noise impact. In our ward, the following locations are planned through the end of December. Affected households and property owners are getting direct notice and outreach. Some of the work will be done adjacent to MUPs, and the City knows my request that those not be impacted if at all possible. There may be some lane closures on Richmond associated with the work, but it's fairly quickly done. Each hole takes roughly a day or so to dig and sample.
