AOE Arts Council consultation at GCTC January 19

You are here

Information about the consultation is available at http://www.artsoe.ca/en/resources/opportunities/details.aspx?id=385. AOE Arts Council's work is important, and this is a great opportunity to help shape its contribution in the coming years. Their request for public participation in these consultations is copied below.

It’s an exciting time to live and work in the Ottawa region! The arts are growing in depth, diversity and impact, representing the heart and soul of our city and an essential catalyst for positive development.   The AOE Arts Council is setting priorities for the next five years.  To develop our next strategic plan, we invite input from individuals, organizations and arts supporters in the Capital region through a survey and/or at one of our community consultations.

AOE Arts Council is all about creating opportunities for Ottawa’s artists and has had a remarkable impact over its 27 years of operation.  Perhaps best known as a driving force behind the creation of the Shenkman Arts Centre, the Arts Council continues to see an evolving membership of over 400 artists, arts organizations and arts supporters that reflect all arts disciplines from across the capital region.

We exist to support, promote and develop the arts in Ottawa through services, resources, programs and advocacy. Some recent examples of our work include:

  • The new Art Place Artist-in-Residence community art initiative
  • Programming partner of the ARTPRENEUR Ottawa Conference
  • Showcase opportunities for members like the annual SÉLECTIONS juried exhibit
  • Promotional Tools – Info Arts Kiosks and ArtsAccolade.ca,  our Arts News website
  • Coaching, workshops and mentorship of organization and individual members

AOE will be inviting the community  to share their thoughts on the things they appreciate about AOE Arts Council, what opportunities exist and where we might focus our future direction.

From January 19 to 25, 2015, you are invited to participate in group consultations and an online survey (until Jan 30).  Contact us at info@artsoe.ca and you will soon be sent an e-mail inviting you to participate.  All of the community thoughts and opportunities will help us to develop our next strategic plan.

This is important work and your input is valuable.  Thank you for taking the time to participate.
