Caring Kitchissippi: Right Bike & Cycle Salvation

You are here

Another great organization that will be represented at the Kitchissippi Forum on April 18 is Right Bike.

Right Bike is a social business that provides jobs and training for people in the community who are struggling to find employment. They also deliver a community bike share service. You may have seen their purple corrals and purple bikes out and about last summer. Don’t be shy to drop by and borrow a bike from any of the locations listed here: http://rightbike.org/rent-bike/. It only costs $5 for a full day of cycling. With 7 bike share service centres in Kitchissippi it’s a great way to stay active and enjoy the outdoors. Learn more on their website http://rightbike.org/, on facebook, or on twitter @RightBikeOttawa.

The organization works under the umbrella of the Causeway Work Centre, which is a not-for-profit organization that helps people overcoming disabilities and other challenges find rewarding work and live more independently.

Cycle Salvation is another social business that operates under Causeway Work Centre. They resell used bicycles that members of the community have donated. Bikes cost anywhere from $60-$150 and you can visit them to see what kind of bikes they have in stock. They also provide training and employment in the field of bike mechanics. Visit their website for more information on donating used bikes for restoration or parts and getting involved at http://www.cyclesalvation.org/index.htm, on facebook or on twitter @cyclesalvation.

Donations of bicycles will also be accepted at the forum on 18 April 2015 and e are excited to hear more from Right Bike and Cycle Salvation. Hope to see you there!
