Over the past few weeks, our office has been working with READ [Rosemount (library) Expansion And Development], both in promoting their advocay efforts and in helping facilitate their public consultation sessions. We connected READ with Wesley Petite, who facilitated our public consultations for the re-development of Reid Park. Wesley is now working with READ to facilitate their consultation sessions and we are excited that the first round of consultations will be getting underway this weekend. As with our Reid Park consultations, there are multiple parts to this process.

My office has been fielding more questions about the John Howard Society proposal for transitional housing on Carruthers Avenue. In advance of a public meeting tentatively scheduled for April 11, we've asked for the following FAQ document to answer some preliminary questions.

What is the John Howard Society?

Need a ride to the information session on Monday, March 7 for the New Civic Campus Redevelopment? We've got a bus!

On a first come, first serve basis we are accepting names to take a bus to the information session located at 200 Coventry Road. The details are as follows:

Monday, March 7

Information Session:  Redevelopment of 900 Albert St
Tues, March 8th 6:00-8:00pm
Orpheus Musical Theatre Society (17 Fairmont Ave)

Due to unforeseen circumstances, tonight's Leiper's Leap Year Campfire is canceled! We are really sorry everyone, as we've heard a lot of excitement around this event. We are hoping a campfire at Winston Square will still be possible this winter and we will keep you all updated.

Back in the thick heat of summer, the Westboro Beach Community Association brought an idea to our office and the NCC: get a porition of the NCC pathway groomed for cross-country skiers, snowshoers, walkers and bikers to enjoy. Everyone felt as though it would be a great project and we are happy to announce that it is finally a reality. Please read the press release below. The Ottawa Hospital invites residents and business owners from Ottawa and surrounding communities to attend a Public Information Session to learn more about the future redevelopment of its Civic Campus:

Residents may have seen that on Friday, the City opened a long-awaited consultation on the sale of live pets (specifically cats, dogs and rabbits), in pet stores. The consultation details are here, and comments are due February 29.
