As you may be aware, there is a Site Plan application currently circulating for 90 Champagne Ave, in the Civic Hospital area. The application is to permit a 14-storey apartment building with two levels of underground parking. The building is proposed to contain a range of residential dwelling units, including: 22 studio units, 146 one-bedroom units, 63 two-bedroom units, and five three-bedroom units for a total of 236 units. The development is proposed to to have 91 vehicle spaces and 138 bicycle spaces on two-levels of underground parking.
As I've been noting in the newsletter, there is urgent construction planned to repair the the water main on Richmond Road between Redwood and Fraser. This week, an open house was held at which the City made public its plan to divert eastbound traffic onto Byron for the project, which would likely take place from around the end of July to as late as November this year.
The City of Ottawa is undergoing a Rental Accommodation Study. The study will include reviews of rental housing, short-term rental providers (such as Air BnBs and VRBO), student housing and shared accommodations. There are discussion papers on each, and the City is hosting a variety of public consultation sessions.
Full details on the Rental Accommodation Study are available on the City of Ottawa website:
There will be a major change soon to the Trillium pathway as construction gets underway to replace the 417/O-Train bridge. Councillor McKenney and I were engaged early in this process, and working with MTO and the City have achieved a detour that will be as safe as possible during the lengthy construction process. For a couple of weeks, unfortunately, Trillium path users will need to detour to Gladstone avenue while they construct the new pedestrian/cycling by-pass.

The applicants for 1950 Scott, 312 and 314 Clifton (Zoning – D02-02-18-0094) have submitted revisions in response to comments concerning active transportation and bicycle parking. As a result, the underground parking garage has been redesigned to incorporate more bicycle parking and with proper storage. 158 bicycle parking spaces are now proposed, including 16 visitor spaces. It was previously 79.
