90 Champagne Ave - Site Plan Control Application + Open House

As you may be aware, there is a Site Plan application currently circulating for 90 Champagne Ave, in the Civic Hospital area. The application is to permit a 14-storey apartment building with two levels of underground parking. The building is proposed to contain a range of residential dwelling units, including: 22 studio units, 146 one-bedroom units, 63 two-bedroom units, and five three-bedroom units for a total of 236 units. The development is proposed to to have 91 vehicle spaces and 138 bicycle spaces on two-levels of underground parking.

Richmond Road construction partial detour to Byron

As I've been noting in the newsletter, there is urgent construction planned to repair the the water main on Richmond Road between Redwood and Fraser. This week, an open house was held at which the City made public its plan to divert eastbound traffic onto Byron for the project, which would likely take place from around the end of July to as late as November this year.

Rental Accommodations Study

The City of Ottawa is undergoing a Rental Accommodation Study. The study will include reviews of rental housing, short-term rental providers (such as Air BnBs and VRBO), student housing and shared accommodations. There are discussion papers on each, and the City is hosting a variety of public consultation sessions.

MTO bridge replacement pedestrian and cycling detours

There will be a major change soon to the Trillium pathway as construction gets underway to replace the 417/O-Train bridge. Councillor McKenney and I were engaged early in this process, and working with MTO and the City have achieved a detour that will be as safe as possible during the lengthy construction process. For a couple of weeks, unfortunately, Trillium path users will need to detour to Gladstone avenue while they construct the new pedestrian/cycling by-pass.

Road work to begin soon on Mailes

The city recently sent this flyer to residents living close to the upcoming infrastructure project on Mailes Avenue, Island Park Drive, Patricia Avenue and two city-owned laneways:

Bayview Friendship Park - Construction Update

The City has received notice from the contractor for the Bayview Friendship Park construction that they are anticipating resuming construction on the site next week. The immediate work will include the installation of new pathway lighting poles and connections. This work may start as early as Monday, May 13th, or later in the week; no additional scheduling information has been received at this time.

1950 Scott, 312 and 314 Clifton - 2nd Revised Application Submission

The applicants for 1950 Scott, 312 and 314 Clifton (Zoning – D02-02-18-0094) have submitted revisions in response to comments concerning active transportation and bicycle parking. As a result, the underground parking garage has been redesigned to incorporate more bicycle parking and with proper storage. 158 bicycle parking spaces are now proposed, including 16 visitor spaces. It was previously 79.

LRT Stage 2 Prep work to start next week between Cleary and Dominion
