Fire fund for Jessica and Brad

On Sunday, our neighbours Jessica Dwyer and Brad Kukurudz experienced a devastating fire on Hinchey, made worse by the loss of a beloved pet. Jess and Brad are known and loved in the neighbourhood, and many in the cycling community know Brad as the owner of Hintonburg Cycle Works, which he ran from their home.

Hintonburg has a long tradition of helping fire victims in our neighbourhood, and we're asking you to again assist one of your neighbours in need. They'll need some cushion in the next few weeks.

IPD weekend closures upcoming

I've received the following notice of three consecutive weekends of southbound Island Park Drive closures between Richmond and Scott associated with the Mailes Avenue re-construction. I know this is an extremely popular cycling route for people going to the Gatineau hills, and am discussing with the City whether this impact can be mitigated.

The Zoning for 16 & 20 Hamilton Ave was approved at Planning Committee on June 27, 2019. The final step is for a decision at Council this week. Since staff recommend approval, they have moved forward with circulating the Site Plan Control for the development. If anything changes at Council, the Site Plan will change. If an appeal is made then approval on the Site Plan will be paused until a decision is rendered.

The property at 2070 Scott, at the corner of Scott and Churchill, is slated for redevelopment. No formal applications have been filed at this point in time, but it is anticipated that a Zoning By-Law Amendment and Site Plan Control will be required. The applicants are proposing a 23-storey building with a 5-storey podium, with entry and egress on Winona. They are proposing roughly 200 rental units.
