Harmer Avenue truss installation, Queensway closure Oct. 19/20

We received the following yesterday from the City.

Construction on the Harmer Avenue Pedestrian/Cycling Bridge Replacement is progressing very well. Construction started in 2018 and is scheduled for completion by summer 2020.


27 O'Meara Development - Community Meeting, October 15 from 5:30-7:00pm

Our office is hosting a community meeting to discuss the future development at 27 O'Meara. The proposed development consists of four storeys and eight residential units. Each floor will contain two residential units, with six 2-bedroom units and two 1-bedroom units included within the building; two of which will be designed as accessible units. Every unit is designed as oversized for more interior storage and the basement level will provide communal storage space for the residents of the building.

Turning pavement to parkland in Kitchissippi Ward

Depave event happening October 5th from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Ottawa, September 27, 2019. Join the Kitchissippi community on Saturday October 5th as they remove a city block of asphalt. This depaving project is partially done by hand as this creates a deep connection to the space and highlights the human impact on our environment.  It is believed to be Ottawa’s first street to be depaved.


City seeking public input on Princess Margriet Park commemorative naming proposal

Ottawa – The City is consulting the public on a proposal to rename Fairmont Park, located at 265 Fairmont Avenue (Ward 15 – Kitchissippi), Princess Margriet Park. 

In recognition of her historical significance to Ottawa, Mayor Jim Watson proposed renaming Fairmont Park after Princess Margriet of the Netherlands.


1655 Carling Ave Development - pre-application - Open House

Surface Developments is looking to move forward with a development at 1655 Carling Ave. The proposed application will be a Zoning By-Law Amendment Application to permit a mixed-use building with ground floor commercial and residential rental apartments above. The development is proposed to have a podium base of 6 floors with a point tower to the West of 22 stories in total with a height of roughly 67.5M.  They are proposing a total of approximately 260 apartments, of one and two bedroom units.


Elmdale school site plan

The final site plan for the Elmdale School renovation is now available, and you can see the detailed plan by clicking the .pdf below. From the original proposal, the final plan consolidates two vehicle entrances on Java into one, and the parking has been somewhat reduced. The Ministry recently approved the final funding, and construction should begin forthwith.


Permits of convenience at 27 O'Meara

Today, demolition work is set to begin at the development site at 27 O’Meara, and I feel it’s important to let residents know how we’ve arrived at this point, and why I consider that the developer in question has engaged in what I would describe as a gross abuse of process.
