R1-related local bus cancellations update

This evening, we received an update from OC Transpo on trip cancellations made to add more buses to the R1 service. As the memo notes, these are in addition to the cancellations that were announced in late September, which I posted here.

Why I voted against the Official Plan

At Council today, I voted against the Official Plan. Here were the remarks I made ahead of casting my vote.


I’m voting today against the Official Plan, as I did at Committee. I’d like to take a moment to explain to colleagues and residents why.

LRT OVERNIGHT WORK AT ROOSEVELT SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEKEND

As we posted September 24, the bridge construction at Roosevelt is set to begin Friday. This work will include overnight work. We’ve attached the notice provided by our Stakeholder Relations team and appreciate residents’ patience through this work.

Should anyone want a more specific schedule, we’ve also attached the very latest schedule we’ve received. It can be a very fascinating process to watch.

Should that schedule change, we will update this post accordingly.

April LRT detour start and overnight work

I have two important notes regarding the LRT construction bus detour to pass on this afternoon. One relates to the disruption of recent overnight work and some overnight work still to come.

R1 changes and route cancellations

This afternoon, Council received details of some of the improvements that OC Transpo will be making to R1 service in light of the disabled Confederation Line. Find below the changes that will come into effect, and the effect those will have as some local routes are cancelled to free up buses. Some of these are buses that serve our ward and I'd encourage riders to review these.

Iona Park Shade-Shelter Consultation - Engage Ottawa

The City is looking for feedback on the lifecycle renewal of the shade-shelter in Iona Park. The park is located at 223 Iona St. The park renewal includes the removal of the existing wood shelter and the installation of two new umbrella tables as well as two accessible benches.

Please complete the Concept Plan Survey found on the Engage Ottawa page by Oct. 4th in order to register your feedback regarding the proposed shade shelters with the city.

Zoning By-law Amendment - 1081 Carling Avenue

The City of Ottawa has received a Zoning By-law Amendment application for 1081 Carling Avenue to add “Apartment building, high rise” as a permitted land use, permit loading in a rear yard abutting a residential zone, and permit additional building height, for the construction of 22-storey and 28-storey towers.

Zoning By-law Amendment - 745 Sir John A. MacDonald Parkway and 234 Atlantis Avenue

The City of Ottawa has received a Zoning By-law Amendment application to construct a new beach pavilion at Westboro Beach, incorporating the existing structures into the design, with new landscaping and recreational programming as well as a new surface parking lot in the Atlantis Yards parking lot .

87 Melrose site plan application

The City of Ottawa has received a Site Plan Control Application for 87 Melrose Avenue. The subject site is located on the east side of Melrose Avenue between Gladstone Avenue and Highway 417. The subject site has a 10.6 metre frontage on Melrose Avenue and a total lot area of approximately 557.6 square metres. There is an existing three-unit dwelling on the site.
